My goal as a journalist is to present information about health care in a way that makes the subject - whether public policy, research, economics, innovation, or simply one person's story - interesting and accessible to the widest possible audience.
I was a staff writer for 20 years at daily newspapers, including The Providence Journal and The Los Angeles Times, where I served on the investigations team. I now work independently as a health care writer and editor for a variety of publications, including peer-reviewed journals and books. I'm a founder and member of the Association of Health Care Journalists, a mentor in AHCJ's health policy fellowship, and a graduate of Vassar College.
